Welcome to the Hyde Heath Village Society website
Hyde Heath is a village located near Amersham in Buckinghamshire.
This website is owned and run by the Hyde Heath Village Society. The purpose of the site is as a resource to bring together the villagers and to communicate latest issues which affect Hyde Heath and its residents.
The site is not designed to replace www.hydeheath.com, which provides social, community and historic information for the village.
Hyde Heath Village Society
The Village Society has existed for many years but unfortunately for a number of reasons it has become dormant in recent times. Consequently a number of villagers came together in 2013 to re-establish the Society.
Why do we need a Village Society?
Various challenges to our community arise from time to time. The most high profile of these at present, is the proposed HS2 development and the associated construction works which are a serious threat to our village. In addition, there are many other issues, which threaten the village, such as proposed changes to the green belt and planning rules.
It is not intended that the new Society will be a single issue organisation as other threats and needs are likely to emerge including, inappropriate buildings, encroachment of buildings on the surrounding Green Belt, rural public transport and services generally in the village.
Each of the most important areas will be addressed by small working party. The society will welcome any resident who wishes to help out, by joining any of these working parties.
Membership - What form does the Village Society take?
The Society is an independent membership based Society with greater and interactive involvement of villagers. There is a modest joining fee of £10 per household (with no annual subscription, envisaged) and it is hoped that on-going costs can be managed through fund-raising. This membership base will be used to cascade information and news throughout the village. Associate membership is be offered (at no cost) to the various Village Organisations to facilitate greater involvement with all of us.
